Needle News – Terms of Service
Last updated: 15 July 2025
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing needle.news (the "Service") you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms") entered into by Radical Sloth Inc., an Ontario corporation ("we," "our," "us"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Needle News collects article metadata (titles, snippets, thumbnails, URLs) from public news sitemaps, assigns each item a point on a map, and displays the result to visitors. We do not host full‑text articles, publisher logos, or subscriber‑only content.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old. The Service is offered only for personal, non‑commercial, informational use.
4. No Professional or Mission‑Critical Use
Mapped locations are approximate and may be wrong. Points can be randomly placed when precise coordinates are unavailable. Do not rely on the map for safety, emergency response, law‑enforcement, investigative, navigation, or any other mission‑critical purpose. You agree not to use the map to identify any person's home, workplace, or other personally identifying location.
5. Intellectual Property
Our content. All software, map layers, design, and compilation are owned by Radical Sloth Inc. or licensed third parties.
Third‑party content. Article titles, snippets, thumbnails, and outbound links remain the property of their respective publishers.
Open‑source notices. Map tiles and data are provided by OpenStreetMap contributors under the ODbL; rendering uses MapLibre GL and Carto. You must comply with their licenses.
6. License & Acceptable Use
We grant you a limited, revocable, non‑transferable license to view the map through a standard web browser. You may not:
- Scrape, crawl, harvest, reverse‑engineer, or bulk‑download any part of the Service.
- Resell or re‑host the mapped data.
- Interfere with or degrade the Service.
- Bypass or disable security or rate‑limit mechanisms.
We may suspend or terminate access at our sole discretion.
7. Advertising & Sponsored Content
The Service may display banner ads or sponsored pins. Ads are clearly labeled. Sponsored placements do not imply our endorsement of the advertiser's products, services, or views.
8. Privacy & Cookies
We use standard analytics cookies and ad‑network cookies to operate and improve the Service. For details, see our separate Privacy Policy.
9. Publisher Opt‑Out / Takedown
If you operate a news site and want your sitemap or specific content removed, email info@radicalsloth.com with the URL(s). We will act within a reasonable time.
10. Warranty Disclaimer
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ACCURACY, NON‑INFRINGEMENT, AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. YOU USE THE SERVICE AT YOUR OWN RISK.
11. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, RADICAL SLOTH INC. WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY WILL NOT EXCEED CAD 100.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold Radical Sloth Inc., its officers, directors, employees, and agents harmless from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses arising out of your misuse of the Service or violation of these Terms.
13. Modifications
We may update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect when posted here. Continued use after changes means you accept the revised Terms.
14. Governing Law & Venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict‑of‑law principles. All disputes must be brought in the courts located in Toronto, Ontario.
15. Severability
If any provision is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
